With experience in international companies, I aspired to validate my knowledge and obtain a globally recognized HR certification.
I chose SHRM-SCP because it confirms the ability to implement best practices. Inspired by certified colleagues, I decided to take the exam in the first available window, dedicating four months to intensive preparation: 30 minutes on weekdays and 5–6 hours on weekends.
The result: confidence in the correctness of my work, a plan for deeper HR process analysis, better understanding of international colleagues, and an expanded professional network.
The SHRM-SCP certification helped me structure my experience and expertise into a cohesive picture. During the preparation process, I had to reassess some of my usual approaches and transform my thinking and decision-making logic.
In SHRM, an extremely important stage is analyzing and securing business buy-in before launching any HR project. This is a key takeaway that I will certainly apply in my practice.
Overall, it was a reflective and intensive journey, and as a result—a confirmation of my professionalism at a global level.
I see this certification as an important confirmation of my professional competence. Preparing for the exam was a valuable experience of self-reflection and skill enhancement, and SHRM recognition is a significant step in my professional growth.
To me, SHRM-SCP is not about learning HR from scratch — it’s about deepening existing experience. It shifts your perspective on familiar practices and highlights the logic behind U.S. HR, especially in ethical dilemmas.
The most eye-opening part was understanding cultural differences in global HR. I used to accept that behavior varies by country — now I understand why. The course also strengthened the link between HR and business in a global context.
Overall, it was a powerful, perspective-expanding experience that reshaped how I see the HRD role internationally.

The SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP exams are offered during two windows each year. When applying for the exam, you must apply during the application period that coincides with your testing window. Applications must be received by the standard deadline for each window.
